Q Can Raphael Jewish Counselling Service help me? A Counselling is for anyone who feels there is something troubling or distressing them or they feel stuck and unable to fulfil their potential in life. People use counselling to help them deal with the stresses of their lives such as difficulties in their family and other relationships, illnesses such as depression or eating disorders, abuse, bereavement or the after-effects of earlier trauma. Counselling can help you live your life more fully. Q What happens in counselling? A Raphael Counsellors are professionally trained to listen to their clients’ experiences and help those clients to better understand their feelings, situation and themselves. They are trained to hear and be aware at a deeper level than would normally occur in everyday conversation. Q How long does counselling last? A Sessions last 50 minutes, once a week at the same time and place. The duration of the counselling is individually tailored to your needs and will be discussed when you meet your counsellor. Q Where will a Raphael Counsellor see me? A Our Counsellors work in North and South London and some Home Counties. Q How do I contact Raphael? A Please click here to see the ‘Contact Us’ page. Q What will happen next? A If you decide to go ahead, your needs will be assessed and you will be referred to a Raphael Counsellor for confidential individual or couple counselling. Q Will I be guaranteed anonymity? A Raphael Jewish Counselling Service is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and is bound by its Ethical Framework for Counselling Practice; therefore Raphael takes protecting confidentiality seriously. Q How much will it cost? A You are expected to make a contribution according to your means. No-one is turned away for financial reasons. Q What is ‘Jewish’ Counselling? A Raphael counsellors are Jewish. They understand the concerns of Jewish people. Raphael is not restricted to any particular sector of the Jewish community and can offer counselling to members of the community who are not Jewish. Q Whom does Raphael help?
